Oral Facial Pain

Temporomandibular disorders and oral facial pain is the area of Dentistry that treats pathological changes of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), and pain of the stomatognathic and facial process. TMDs (temporomandibular disorders) are pathological changes related to temporomandibular joint (TMJ), which articulates the skull and lower jaw and may be part of both the masticatory muscle, ligament and nerve areas in the fluff-facial or neck region. These joints work in pairs. It could result in headaches or neck pain, joint sounds (crackles), tinnitus or fullness in the ears, limited mouth opening, wear on the teeth and chewing difficulties. The etiology has not been defined yet, it is believed that stress is the main trigger, in addition to deleterious habits of bruxism, trauma to the head and neck, poor posture and malocclusion.
